Eric Miller has been elected the new vice president of the Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce. Miller, first vice president of Planters Bank in Greenwood, said the chamber’s numerous activities, such as the Christmas parade, have helped him and his family to consider Greenwood home.

Eric Miller said he wasn’t surprised when he was recently elected vice president of the Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce.

Miller, 38, who serves as the first vice president of Planters Bank in Greenwood, said he joked with those who approved him for the chamber position.

Old tires await pickup on Howard Street. The city of Greenwood does not pick up tires at curbsides. Residents will now have to go to the Leflore County Unit System on Mississippi 7 North to dispose of tires.

“He had more common sense than anybody I ever knew,” said Leflore County Sheriff Ricky Banks. “He knew more information. He had a knack about him for getting people to come forward.”
