Deputies arrest 2 men in robbery, stabbings

Two Leflore County men have been charged in connection with a robbery at Skelton’s U-Haul on Grenada Boulevard on Monday that left two women hospitalized with stab wounds.

An unidentified third suspect, who drove the men to the store, is still being sought.

State Sen. David Jordan, D-Greenwood, has been recognized by the Magnolia Bar Association for his contributions in the struggle for civil rights.

Jordan received one of five Harriet Tubman Awards at the association’s annual Mid-Winter Gala in Jackson on Jan. 31.

Christian group Newsboys to perform

The Christian pop rock band Newsboys, which has six certified gold recordings among its 16 studio albums, will perform March 1 at the Leflore County Civic Center.

The concert is part of the group’s “We Believe... God’s Not Dead” spring tour and is being coordinated by North Greenwood Baptist Church.
