Fugitive caught in Ohio, returned

A 23-year-old fugitive wanted in connection with a vicious beating last month is now in custody in Greenwood.

What makes the case unusual is that when Kendrick Gaston, 215 McCain St., was caught recently by authorities in Cleveland, Ohio, he was accompanied by the same woman he allegedly attacked in Greenwood.

Mayor discusses ex-prison site options in DC

Despite rain, no danger of flooding

With the northern part of Mississippi receiving between 10 and 15 inches of rainfall so far this year, the region’s lake reservoirs are high but well within acceptable limits, according to officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
