Simpson Hemphill was very much the Southern gentleman, but still he had the ability to speak candidly.
“He told you what he thought. He let the chips fall where they may,” said longtime friend James Jones.
Martin Simpson Hemphill, 86, died Saturday, May 2, 2015, at his longtime residence, Paloma Plantation, in Carroll County.
