Brown dad, son stump for votes

A father and son, running for different offices as independents in Leflore County, made impassioned pleas Wednesday for voters to support them in the November general election.

Troy Brown Sr. is running for Leflore County chancery clerk. Troy Brown Jr. is running for District 3 supervisor. The general election will be on Nov. 3.

Promoter says he wants to bring country show to city

Greenwood could become a destination location for country music fans if a Leland promoter gets his way.

On Tuesday, Jack Harper, the organizer of “A Night in the Country: A Journey Down Mississippi’s Country Music Trail,” addressed the City Council, seeking a $100 sponsorship for the Aug. 1 show in Aberdeen.

Vaiden man charged in July 13 stabbing

A Vaiden man has been charged with aggravated assault in the July 13 stabbing of a man following a family quarrel, according to Carroll County Sheriff Jerry Carver.

Maurice Robinson, 23, 620 County Road 27, remained in the Carroll-Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility this morning. Bond has been set at $5,000.
