Family still mourns slain nurse

The mother of a woman found stabbed to death in her home last September says she finds it “ridiculous” that no arrests have been made.

Lakeyla Foreman Broom, 29, was found Sept. 21 in the home on West President Avenue where she lived with her husband, 32-year-old Edward Broom.

Rope course

This week, 15 members of the Greenwood Fire Department have been getting a real workout learning the finer points of rappelling and rope rescues.

Robert Parker and Greg Collins, both state Fire Academy instructors, have been teaching the 40-hour course.
