Saturday’s eighth annual Bikes, Blues & Bayous had a little something for everybody: great weather, good food and lots of friendship.

The unofficial rider count was close to 900 riders, according to Richard Beattie, a founding member of the event and a member of the Money Road Cycling Club.

School supplies giveaway Saturday

The Greenwood Salvation Army will be seeking donations of school supplies for needy children at an event Saturday.

“We’re trying to collect school supplies — pencils, notebook paper, pocket folders and glue sticks,” said Lt. Benjamin Deuel, corps officer for Greenwood.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
