McCoy complains about ambulance’s failure to arrive

Concerns about adequate ambulance coverage in Greenwood dominated Tuesday’s meeting of the City Council.

Ward 4’s Charles McCoy said a woman in his church, New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, suffered a heart attack two Sundays ago and MedStat, the city’s ambulance provider, said it would take 20 minutes to respond.

Challenger takes down sheriff

Clint Walker has unseated incumbent Carroll County Sheriff Jerry Carver.

Walker received 1,966 votes, or 53 percent, in unofficial results to best the field of five in Tuesday’s Democratic primary.

The 41-year-old first-time candidate will face no opposition in the November general election.
