Clerks busy with absentee ballots

A steady stream of voters made their way to the Leflore County and Carroll County courthouses Saturday to cast absentee ballots.

Saturday was the last day to vote absentee.

Absentee ballots are provided to voters who are unable to be in the county on the day of an election due to work or a number of other specified conditions.

The Museum of the Mississippi Delta drew a packed house to its second annual benefit Thursday night.

The benefit, which raised approximately $10,000, honored Wade Inc. and Greenwood Utilities for their philanthropic efforts on behalf of the museum and the community at large.

Candidates: Jobs are top priority

Museum to hold annual fundraiser

The Museum of the Mississippi Delta is making the final preparations for its second annual benefit, which is coming up Thursday.

The $100-per-person benefit, featuring a cocktail buffet, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the museum, which is at 1608 U.S. 82 West.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
