Sproles’ after-school job became career

Charles Sproles says that when he started working at Norris Bookbinding at the age of 15, he wasn’t thinking of it as a career.

H.H. Norris, the co-founder of the business, had noticed Sproles bagging groceries at Jitney Jungle and was impressed with his work habits.

Wade Inc. has begun an expansion in Greenwood that will add about 10,000 square feet to the agricultural equipment dealership.

The additions, which will bring the total square footage up to 46,000, are designed to improve customer service and the work environment, said Matthew Hicks, general manager.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
