Day-care owner awaiting hearing

A Greenwood day-care center owner who sued the state Board of Health will be able to state her case before a hearing officer soon.

Debbie Ellis, who owns the Learning Tree at 211 W. President Ave., has claimed that the decision to reduce her center's capacity from 63 children to 52 was "arbitrary and capricious."

Arrests made for robbery, burglary

Two Leflore County men are in custody today after weekend arrests in unrelated robbery and burglary incidents in the Sidon area.

In the first incident, Joey Buchanan, 21, of 1131/2 Palace St., Greenwood, is being held in the county jail on a charge of armed robbery.
