Delta Center to open by end of September

INDIANOLA - The Delta Center workforce training facility in Indianola is scheduled to be completely open by the end of September, its director reported Thursday.

Perry Jenkins spoke at the meeting of the Mid-Delta Empowerment Zone Alliance (MDEZA) Board of Commissioners. The meeting was held at the Delta Center.

Kiwanis honors Whittington

Don Brock Jr., right, president of the Greenwood Kiwanis Club, presents law partner W.M. Whittington Jr. with a plaque recognizing him as a George F. Hixson Fellow, one of the Kiwanis International Foundation's highest honors. The Kiwanis chapter chose Whittington for the award after presenting $1,000 to the Kiwanis International Foundation.

County property rolls accepted

The Leflore County Board of Supervisors accepted the real and personal property rolls by a 3-2 vote Monday.

The rolls reflect changes in values from reappraisals first conducted last year and updated this year. The value of county real property increased by about 30 percent overall.
