Judge orders Smith’s release

Former Greenwood oncologist Arnold Smith will be released from involuntary inpatient commitment at the Mississippi State Hospital at Whitfield following an order signed Thursday by Hinds County Chancellor Denise Owens.

Greenwood attorney Lee Abraham, whom Smith is accused of plotting to kill, said the decision is an outrage.

After two months on the job, the newest executive director of the Greenwood Convention and Visitors Bureau is brimming with new ideas for promoting tourism.

Danielle Cox Morgan came to the job in early September from Jackson and the state Farm Bureau, but her roots are closer to the Delta in Yazoo City.
