Marines ground KC-130Ts

The U.S. Marine Corps has grounded all KC-130Ts following the July 10 crash of the same model aircraft that killed 15 Marines and one Navy sailor in western Leflore County.

Speaking to Defense News, Marine spokeswoman Lt. Stephanie Leguizamon said the grounding affects 12 aircraft, all operated by Marine Forces Reserve.

For the second year in a row, Peggy Sue Hemphill has organized a giveaway of school supplies for children attending all Greenwood schools.

The event next Saturday at Whittington Park will feature free hotdogs and hamburgers, free drinks, a fire truck for children to explore and a DJ spinning music.

Chiqueta Daniels will be moving from Greenwood Middle School’s principal’s office to a central office position as K-12 science coordinator.
