Family: GHS threatens students over T-shirts

A group of seniors at Greenwood High School wearing black T-shirts in remembrance of a classmate this morning were told to change the shirts or be expelled, according to the grandmother of one of the students.

This statue of Fannie Lou Hamer stands at the Memorial Garden at 710 Bryan St., Ruleville, where Hamer is buried. Centennial celebration events will be carried out at the memorial site all day today, including a ceremony at 4:30 p.m. followed by a group walk with the national organization Girl Trek.

Mississippi Blues Fest fall concert Saturday

The Mississippi Blues Fest comes to the Leflore County Civic Center on Saturday for its fall concert, featuring a stellar lineup of Southern soul and blues artists.

The fest, a biannual event in Greenwood, is organized by a committee of volunteers headed by Civic Center Executive Director Andrew McQueen.
