Mansion will host fundraiser

As Halloween approaches, the Cotesworth Culture & Heritage Center is preparing for an unusual, and possibly terrifying, fundraiser.

Those looking to learn about the Carroll County mansion’s history and its possible paranormal residents can participate in a ghost tour Oct. 23 or Oct. 24 starting at 6:30 p.m.

240 registered for Saturday's annual races

A total of 240 people had registered for the Viking Half Marathon & 5K races as of Thursday morning — but Beth Stevens, executive director of the Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce, predicts that number may increase.

The Museum of the Mississippi Delta will display a unique archaeological artifact for just one day: this Saturday.

The public is invited to visit the museum between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to view the Jaketown Effigy Tablet at no charge.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
