Ratliff: Election Day went well

Preston Ratliff, Leflore County election commissioner, happily reported to the Leflore County Board of Supervisors Monday that last week’s election was a success.

At Monday night’s meeting, Ratliff spoke on behalf of the 11 members of the county’s resolution board, which helped count absentee ballots.

The iconic host, best known for “Jeopardy!” (although you should really check out his hosting of “Double Dare” from the 1970s and the 1990s reboot of “To Tell the Truth” if you haven’t) died Sunday surrounded by family from complications with pancreatic cancer.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
