Man charged in June shootout

A 25-year-old Greenwood man has been charged with three counts of attempted murder related to a shootout June 18 in Itta Bena.
Ronald Sanders Jr., 6619 County Road 92, was arrested Wednesday. He was being held at the Leflore County Jail Thursday on $300,000 bond.

Airport awarded $1.2M for runway

Greenwood-Leflore Airport has been awarded a $1.2 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration as part of its Airport Improvement Program.
The money will be used for reconstructing lighting on the primary runway of the airport.

Pillow to honor 2 longtime supporters at dinner Saturday

Pillow Academy will honor two dedicated supporters during its annual Alumni Awards Dinner Saturday night at the Greenwood Country Club.
Dr. Todd Fincher, a member of the Class of 1975, will receive the 2021 Alumnus of the Year Award. Mike Sturdivant III will receive the 2021 Bob Hardeman Distinguished Mustang Award.
