More than 30 people marched down Main Street Saturday as part of a campaign to promote downtown walking.

Let’s Go Walkin’ Down Main Street is a statewide event, in its second year, that encourages citizens to walk around the Main Street district in their town.

Soccer Sundays welcomes everyone, draws large crowds to park

The past several Sunday mornings, Wagner Park has been transformed into a soccer field for a new league of Greenwood fans.

Serafin Simon, owner of the San Miguel Arcangel grocery store on Park Avenue and head of the league, said the players meet to relax and escape the stress of the work week.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
