Labor shortage affects roadside debris removal

A labor shortage is adding to the time it takes for the city of Greenwood’s Public Works Department to remove roadside debris from streets throughout town, although the city has enough equipment to speed up the process.

One more meal to be served at Lusco's

Guess what? Lusco’s didn’t serve its last meals on its final night, which was Saturday.
A special group has been invited to dine there this evening, which is Wednesday. And all of the guests will be members of the staff.
“With me and Andy, it will be 11. We have nine employees,” Karen Pinkston said.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
