Repairs planned for fascia board at courthouse

An area of the Leflore County Courthouse lawn has been cordoned off with yellow tape for several weeks because buckled fascia three stories up is leaning and cracking.
Fascia, also called fascia board, covers the joint between the top of a wall and the eaves of a roof.

School bond approval leads the vote

The campaign to issue $44 million in bonds to build a new countywide high school in Leflore County led the vote count with 64% approval in Tuesday’s election.
But more than 2,000 absentee and affidavit ballots had yet to be tallied by late in the day Wednesday.

Officials aim for smooth day at polls

With polls opening at 7 a.m. Tuesday, the 2024 general election is now in full swing.
Voters are casting ballots until 7 p.m. at 18 precincts with 19 locations because the North Greenwood precinct is divided into two neighboring buildings on Claiborne Avenue: the American Legion Hut and a former Greenwood fire station.
