Lie down, relax to look at new museum exhibit

People dropping by the Museum of the Mississippi Delta this month might find they want to take a stretch.
Three yoga mats are laid together on the floor of an exhibition room so folks can lie on them in order to take in a piece of lighted and sparkling but fluffy art by Korkut Akacik, who is on the art faculty at Delta State University.

Ribbon cut at Sunflower Greenwood Clinic

Dozens of sunny smiles flowered among a crowd attending a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday on West Park Avenue.
Folks initially gathered at the entrance of Sunflower Greenwood Clinic to celebrate the opening of the North Sunflower Medical Center extension into Greenwood and Leflore County.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
