Couple busy as preparations for medical practice continue

He’s been running over to a building on West Park Avenue where plumbers are installing hookups for medical gas used for anesthesia.

Church to present ‘Carols by the Tree’ Tuesday

Greenwood musicians Ray Smithee and Paul Brown are looking forward to Tuesday night’s “Carols by the Tree” at First Presbyterian Church.

The 7 p.m. performance, which is part of the church’s “Classics at First” concert series, is intended in part to offer the community “a break from everything,” said Smithee.

Adopted, rescue horses to be shown

Stephanie Billingsley, who has a heavily populated horse rescue operation at Muleshoe Ranch in Coila, is hoping to visit with horse lovers of all kinds and ages at a special event Saturday.

Muleshoe will have several of its rescued and adoptable horses at County Line Ranch Supply on U.S. 82 east of Greenwood between 2 and 4 p.m.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
