Authorities probe possible embezzlement

CARROLLTON — The investigation into the disappearance of Linda Reed of Carrollton has turned into a possible embezzlement case.

The FBI and Copiah County law enforcement personnel are looking closely into the books of Moore’s Fabrications in Gallman, where she worked since 1999 as a bookkeeper.

Carroll board to buy bus

CARROLLTON – With a $50,000 grant and $39,660 from 16th Section land funds, the Carroll County School Board will purchase a new 71-passenger school bus for the district.

District bus supervisor Dewitt Cobbins had recommended purchase of a larger bus, but board members turned down his proposal.

Highway 430 bridge project may end up in court

CARROLLTON — The attorney for the Carroll County Board of Supervisors is preparing to go to court in eminent domain proceedings for a Highway 430 bridge project if the county cannot come to an agreement with land-owners for right-of-way.

“We may be in front of a jury, so we need a local person for appraiser,” Kevin Horan said.
