Carroll board approves new deputy coroner

VAIDEN – Carroll County supervisors named a new deputy coroner Monday after Coroner Ken Strachan asked them to replace Donny Hovis, who has resigned.

Strachan asked the board to name Michael Roberts of Vaiden to the job.

Reed’s husband happy she’s alive

James “Lou” Reed of Carrollton said today that he and his family “are just so glad” to know Linda Reed is alive, after a six-month search for his wife led authorities to Longview, Texas, where she was arrested Thursday morning.

Lou Reed said he would have more to say later about the situation but was just glad to know she’s OK.

Vaiden to hold Heritage Festival

VAIDEN — Vaiden will host its third annual Heritage Festival Saturday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Mayor Melvin Hawthorne says there will be fun for all ages, with children’s games, face painting, hay rides, and everyone’s favorite, food vendors, in addition to arts and crafts.
