Proposed merger shocks officials

School board unanimously re-elects leadership

VAIDEN — The Carroll County School Board will not see changes in leadership this year, as the board re-elected its 2015 officers.

Laura Davis will continue as president, Kenneth DeLoach as vice president and Daniel Vest as secretary. The vote was unanimous in its re-election of all three.

Board unveils bridges plan

VAIDEN — The Carroll County Board of Supervisors set priorities for replacing old and dangerous bridges at Monday’s meeting.

Shane Correro of Willis Engineering gave board members a map with the 47 top-priority bridge projects highlighted. In 2015, two of the county’s bridges collapsed — one in Beat 1 and another in Beat 4.

The church is holding an auction for Mission Hope in Winona, a place where people can go to get food, clothing, furniture and other assistance. The auction begins at 3 p.m.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
