Video to promote Carroll Co.

CARROLLTON – In a 3-2 vote, Carroll County supervisors decided Monday to pay a one-time fee of $8,000 for a video to promote the county.

Supervisors Terry Herbert, Claude Fluker, and Rickie Corley voted for the motion, and Honey Ashmore and Marvin Coward voted no.

Movies mean more than money

NORTH CARROLLTON — Making a movie in Mississippi is good for more than just the economy, says Nina Parikh, deputy director of the Mississippi Film Office.

It can also do wonders for the perceptions people from outside the South have about the state and Southerners.

Betsy Campbell stands in front of the Merrill Museum in Carrollton as she prepares for lots of fun and games at this year's Pilgrimage and Pioneer Day in Carrollton. Campbell says there will be at least 35 vendors, and there will be food, activities for children and many hand-crafted items for sale. The pilgrimage will be held Oct. 5 and 6.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
