Clergy decry Day of Prayer ruling

This year’s National Day of Prayer, went on as usual around the country Thursday and was proclaimed so by President Barack Obama, but if atheistic and agnostic groups have their way, the day won’t continue as a nationally sanctioned celebration.

N. Carrollton resident wants something done about flooding

Lacy said she didn’t have a problem before a gym was added to J.Z. George High School, which neighbors her property at 105 Morgan St.

Supervisors talk garbage fees

CARROLLTON — Carroll County supervisors discussed on Monday how they can make it more difficult for citizens to avoid pay yearly garbage fees.

Carroll County has lost about $500,000 in revenue since 1992-93, District 1 Supervisor Terry Herbert said during the board’s regular meeting.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
