Christian singer Phelps to perform Sat. in Greenwood

Middleby sues former Viking owners

The former owners of Greenwood-based Viking Range, including founder Fred Carl, are being sued for $100 million by The Middleby Corp., which bought Viking in late 2012.

The complaint, filed in Delaware superior court, accuses Viking’s former owners of “knowingly and fraudulently concealing” known product defects.

Hospital gets C for patient safety

An independent hospital watchdog organization has given Greenwood Leflore Hospital a C rating in patient safety, placing it in the middle of the pack statewide.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Score relies on self-reported data supplied by hospitals nationwide. It is designed to measure the overall quality and safety of inpatient care.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
