Report: Highway repairs would cost $50M

City crime down slightly in 2015

Figures from the Greenwood Police Department show that the number of burglaries in the city has not changed substantially since last year and may actually be on track to decrease.

In 2014, there were 367 burglaries reported in Greenwood, of which 276 — or three-fourths — were residential, rather than commercial.

Area kindergarten students unprepared

According to the results of an early literacy exam, two-thirds of kindergarten students in Mississippi are entering the classroom not ready to learn.

The state Department of Education released the results of the STAR Early Literacy exam Thursday afternoon, revealing a state average score of 502, up one point from last year.
