Flood threat poses little risk here

Hospital property purchase request on hold

The Leflore County Board of Supervisors delayed action on a request by Greenwood Leflore Hospital to purchase two adjacent Strong Avenue properties for possible future development as an urgent-care clinic.

The two buildings are residential properties owned by doctors employed at the hospital.

Former Greenwood minister John Shackleford and his wife, Donna, are living at West Marks Baptist Church following the destruction of their rented home by a tornado Wednesday evening in Marks.

The couple and their dog survived unscathed, but John Shackleford said that he is unsure where they will go or what they will do.
