Local man dies in hit-and-run

A Greenwood man was killed in Texas Wednesday morning when he was a struck by a truck.

According to EverythingLubbock.com, Derrick Leonard Clark, 37, was hit by a pickup truck while on foot on the eastbound service road of I-40.

The 2003 GMC pickup was driven by Ruben Granadoz Jr., 33.

Future of firing hearing unclear

Two attorneys say it is too early to tell how Greenwood School Superintendent Montrell Greene’s ouster will affect the pending termination hearing of Mary Brown, a former assistant superintendent.

Brown was fired in October 2014 for alleged insubordination and violation of district policies.

DNA evidence and phone records broke the case of a Greenwood woman who was found dead in her home in September 2014, says Greenwood Police Chief Ray Moore.

Lakeyla Broom, 29, was found dead with multiple stab wounds in the house on West President Avenue where she lived with her husband, Edward Broom.
