Mississippi Department of Agriculture investigators have leads on suspected scammers who have convinced Greenwood residents to spray trees for termites.

One victim, Eloise Quackenboss of East Monroe Avenue, said homeowners should be leery of anyone seeking work.

Countdown: County seeks final tally of ballots in 2 races today

The Leflore County Election Commission hopes to finish counting ballots this afternoon with the outcome of the county court judge race hanging in the balance.

Fred Clark led incumbent Kevin Adams by 169 votes (3,341 to 3,172) after the machine count.

But 604 absentee ballots remain plus affidavit and curbside votes.

Clark holds narrow lead

Fred Clark held a 169-vote lead over incumbent Leflore County Court Judge Kevin Adams early today in unofficial machine totals with counting of more than 600 paper ballots to begin this morning.

Clark received 3,341 machine votes Tuesday (51.3 percent) compared to 3,172 (48.7 percent) for Adams.

Court upholds Florewood Park ruling

Leflore County is a step closer to moving forward with plans for the former Florewood State Park.

The Mississippi Court of Appeals on Tuesday affirmed a judge’s decision that the 100-acre property should not revert back to its original owners.
