Cell phone puts man back in jail

A former prisoner is going back to jail after pleading guilty Monday to having a cell phone inside a correctional facility.

Justin Barnett, 29, 603 Cemetery St., Baldwyn, was sentenced in Leflore County Circuit Court to three years: two to serve and one year of post-release supervision.

Greenwood Leflore Hospital is stopping smoking cold turkey on Jan. 1.

No tobacco use of any kind will be permitted on hospital property, including the main campus, clinics, business office, Wellness Center and parking lots.

Signs warn drivers of this railroad crossing at Money Road and County Road 83 that was the scene of a fatal accident in June. Leflore County is trying to get an easement to build a road connecting the crossing to another one marked with gates and flashing lights about a half mile away. The county is still waiting for an answer from the property owner.
