Man erupts in court

A Schlater man snapped Thursday when a judge read a guilty verdict for sexual battery in Leflore County Circuit Court.

As the jury was walking out, Raphael Flowers slapped a plastic water pitcher and “got up saying, ‘This is bull----,’” according to Assistant District Attorney Tim Jones.

County faces loss of judge, constable

According to state law, Leflore County should lose a justice court judge and constable because of its falling population.

But that doesn’t seem likely to happen this year because the county is running under district lines that haven’t been updated to reflect the 2010 census.
