Body found in motel

Police are investigating the case of a body discovered Thursday inside a Greenwood motel room as a suicide.

The deceased is Patrick James Jackson, 26, 1201 South Blvd.

Cleaning crews discovered Jackson’s body in a second-floor room at America’s Best Value Inn & Suites, 621 U.S. 82.

Woman charged in Itta Bena death

A Greenwood woman is being charged today in the death of a man who fell out of a car in Itta Bena last week.

Latonya Hodges, 35, 108 Boyd Circle, admitted to having sex for money with the victim, Markettice Turner, 31, of Indianola and smoking crack cocaine before the accident, Leflore County Sheriff Ricky Banks said.

Jury to reconsider $25K award in Fred’s fall case

The Mississippi Court of Appeals is sending a Greenwood slip-and-fall case back for a new trial to reconsider the $25,000 reward a jury gave.

Fred’s Discount Stores was found liable for negligence after a customer, Jesse Pratt, was injured after slipping on a plastic grocery sack on the floor near a checkout stand in 2003.
