Carroll deputies free on bond

LEXINGTON — Two Carroll County deputies turned themselves in to Holmes County authorities Wednesday afternoon on charges related to a shooting into a car.

John Beck and Curtis Alford were each immediately released on $10,000 bond, according to their attorney, Kevin Horan of Grenada.

Although the official release date isn’t until Aug. 10, screenings have been held all over, including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and San Francisco.

Carroll deputies indicted in shooting

Two Carroll County deputies are now wanted in Holmes County after a grand jury handed down indictments against them related to a shooting at a vehicle.

Holmes County Sheriff Willie March said this morning that the indictments were handed down Monday but that no arrest had been made yet.

Courthouse, civic center to get new roofs

Leflore County is putting new roofs on the courthouse and Civic Center at a price tag of more than half a million dollars.

The Board of Supervisors accepted three bids from contractors Monday, and work will begin in two or three weeks.
