The Pillow Academy boys soccer team clinched a playoff spot with a 2-1 win over St. Aloysius Monday in Vicksburg.
The Mustangs, 7-7 overall and winners of five straight, got two goals from Danny Lara in defeating the Flashes.

The Delta Streets Academy boys moved to 14-8 overall and 2-0 against Pillow Academy this season with an 81-37 win over the Mustangs Saturday at Pillow.
Delta Streets, which played Greenville St. Joe Monday, led 22-11 after the first period, 42-28 at the half and 64-32 after the third frame against Pillow, which falls to 4-18 overall.

Prep Roundup: Jags pull away in 4th quarter to top Sebastopol

The J.Z. George boys basketball team improved to 3-1 in Region 4-2A with a 50-48 come-from-behind win at Sebastopol High School Thursday night.
Sebastopol held a 13-4 lead after the first period and led 30-23 at the half. The Jaguars (8-9 overall) held a slim 10-6 advantage in the third to only trail 36-33 headed to the final period.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
