Greenwood High School’s boys basketball team placed four players on the Region 3-4A All-District squad that was announced at the conclusion of the district tournament Friday night. From left, are, Frederrick Ford, Jaiden Jenkins, Michael Steele and Jeremiah Kendrick. Jenkins was named the Defensive Player of the Year, and Kendrick was named the Offensive Player of the Year. Prep Basketball: Tigers claim district championship

The Leflore County boys basketball team is the Region 3-2A champions.
The Tigers (18-7) captured the district championship with a 36-30 win over top-seeded Northside High School Friday night in Greenville at O’Bannon High School.

Prep Baseball: Mustangs, Rebels drop games on the diamond

Pillow Academy’s baseball team played well for four innings until the bottom dropped out in the fifth and sixth innings as Hartfield Academy claimed a 10-0 victory Saturday in Flowood.
Hartfield plated one run in the first, two in the fifth and seventh in the sixth. The Hawks outhit the Mustangs 10-0.

Delta Streets Academy brought home second-place hardware from the North 4A Tournament Saturday at Lee Academy. His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
