Bulldogs open baseball season Tuesday

The Greenwood High School baseball team is slated to open its 2025 season Tuesday at West Bolivar High School.
The Bulldogs had a dismal year in 2024 as they went 0-9 overall and 0-8 in Region 3-4A. They compete against Kosciusko, Caledonia, Louisville and Houston in the district.

National Signing Day: Elzy’s Glover inks paper with Jones Community College

Two-time Commonwealth Player of the Year Jevarion Glover made it official Wednesday as he signed his letter of intent with Jones Community College on National Signing Day.
Glover, an Amanda Elzy senior, opted for the Ellisville-based school over numerous offers from other junior colleges in the state, as well as Mississippi Valley State.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
