Bulldogs finish 4th place at region meet

The Greenwood High School boys track team placed fourth overall with 56 points at the Super Region 2-4A meet held Thursday at Meridian High School.
Caledonia was first with 223 points, and Northeast Lauderdale second with 80 points. Newton County came in third with 57 points, and Choctaw County fifth with 47 points.

Carroll Academy is headed to the second round of the MAIS North 4A baseball playoffs.
Behind a no-hit pitching gem from Hayes White, the Rebels bested Greenville Christian Academy 15-0 on Friday in Greenville to capture the first-round series win.

Carroll Academy's boys, girls track teams take 2nd at district meet

The Carroll Academy boys and girls track teams both came in second place at the MAIS District 3-4A meet, which was held Saturday and Wednesday at Canton Academy.
The Rebels finished with 70 team points, which trailed Canton’s 121 points. Winston was third with 44 points, and Oak Hill came in fourth with 12 points.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
