Leflore County, Elzy travel for second games

A week after playing each other to open the 2025 season, Leflore County and Amanda Elzy both hit the road for their second games of the season.
The Tigers travel to Hollandale to face Simmons High School, and the Panthers visit the Greenville High School Hornets.

The Carroll Academy duo of Collin Hurst and Cohen Blaylock led the Rebels to a 39-0 victory over visiting Manchester Academy to earn the Commonwealth’s Player of the Week honor on offense.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
