Fastpitch softball: Lady Mustangs take down JA

Pillow Academy’s girls fastpitch softball team cruised to a 14-2 win over Jackson Academy Tuesday in a District 1-4A contest in Jackson.
Pillow (9-7-1 overall, 2-2 in district) scored six runs in the first frame, three runs each in the second and fourth innings and two in the third. JA plated two runs in the second inning.

Prep Volleyball: Lady Bulldogs down Greenville, 3-0

The Greenwood High School girls volleyball team claimed a 3-0 match win over visiting Greenville High School Thursday night to improve to 4-2 overall.
The Lady Bulldogs won the sets 25-20, 25-12 and 25-6.
In a match Tuesday at Thomas E. Edwards High School in Ruleville, Greenwood dropped a 3-1 decision to tbe Lady Tigers.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
