The Pillow and Carroll Academy girls fastpitch softball teams will be competing in their respective North Regional Tournaments Saturday.
- Pillow Academy: The Lady Mustangs, who made it through the regular season with a 12-11-1 overall record, will take on Hartfield Academy at 10 a.m. in a first-round game in the North 4A Tournament.

Prep Roundup: Greenwood High, Elzy drop region matches

The Greenwood High and Amanda Elzy girls volleyball teams closed out the week with losses in region play Thursday.
-Greenwood High: The Lady Bulldogs dropped a 3-0 decision at Kosciusko High School to fall to 9-3 overall and 4-1 in Region 4-4A.
The Lady Whippets won the sets 25-14, 25-16 and 25-20.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
