Carroll brings home district win; Leflore, JZG fall

The pieces are starting to come together for the Carroll Academy football team.
The Rebels played a solid contest Friday night in knocking off District 1-3A foe Marshall Academy 41-30 in Holly Springs.
“We got out of there with a district win, and that is all that matters,” said CA head coach Bo Milton.

Pillow takes down Lions, 34-13

Pillow Academy’s ground game churned out 354 yards of offense as the Mustangs cruised to a 34-13 win over Delta Streets Academy Thursday night at Bill Davis Field.
It was the first-ever meeting between the two Greenwood-based schools on the football field.

Bulldogs open district with Houston

The Bulldogs will kick off Region 3-4A play this week as they take on the Hilltoppers of Houston High School at 7 p.m. Friday at Bulldog Stadium.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
