The Amanda Elzy duo of Jevarion Glover and Eldred Horton have been selected as the Commonwealth’s Players of the Week for their performances in games played last week.
Glover, a junior quarterback, carried his team to a thrilling 46-22 homecoming victory over Ruleville Central Friday night.

Prep Roundup: Pillow, Leflore pick up volleyball wins

The Pillow Academy girls volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 sweep of visiting Central Hinds Academy Thursday at Scott gymnasium.
The Lady Mustangs (17-7) won the sets 25-18, 25-17 and 25-22.
Pillow’s junior varsity team won its match 2-0 by winning the sets 25-5 and 25-12.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
