Seasons end for three squads

The prep volleyball seasons for three Greenwood area teams came to an end Saturday in their respective state tournaments.
-Leflore County: The Lady Tigers dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Hamilton High School in the State 2A Tournament at Greenwood’s gym.
Hamilton won the sets 25-4, 25-7 and 25-12.

Prep Roundup: Leflore, Amanda Elzy, JZG in volleyball playoffs

The Leflore County and Amanda Elzy girls volleyball teams closed out the regular season Thursday with sweeps of their opponents.
The Lady Tigers knocked off visiting West Bolivar 3-0 by winning the sets 25-23, 25-17 and 25-22.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
