Lady Mustangs cruise to first win in basketball

The Pillow Academy girls basketball team opened its 2023-2024 season with a 64-32 win over Winston Academy at the Columbus Christian School preseason tournament Tuesday.
The Lady Mustangs, who were 26-8 last season, raced out to an 18-8 lead after the first period. They led 32-17 at the half and 44-25 after the third frame.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
