Pillow, DSA kick off boys soccer

Pillow Academy’s boys soccer team has one goal in mind, and that’s defending its Division II state championship.
The Mustangs were 19-4 last season and defeated Madison St. Joe 1-0 (4-3 in a shootout) to capture the state title in late February.

Amanda Elzy’s Jevarion Glover had the best outing for a quarterback this season in last week’s 24-22 setback to Humphreys County.
The junior signal caller threw for 409 yards on 19-of-31 pass attempts with two touchdowns and two interceptions to earn the Commonwealth’s Player of the Week honor.

Trojans upset No. 4 Bobcats

The Trojans of Mississippi Delta Community College pulled off the biggest upset of the season with a 36-33 win over previously No. 4-ranked Jones Community College Saturday in Ellisville.
MDCC (2-6 overall) trailed 31-23 going into the fourth quarter, but outscored the Bobcats 13-2 in the final period to pull off the upset.
