Prep Basketball: Mustangs gallop past Lions, 47-32

Pillow Academy’s boys basketball team improved to 6-4 overall with a 47-32 win over Delta Streets Academy Saturday at Stribling Gymnasium.
The Mustangs held an 11-5 lead after the first period and made it 27-14 at the half. The Lions pulled to within seven at 33-26 by the end of the third frame. Pillow outscored DSA 14-6 in the fourth.

Prep Football: Three from Elzy selected to all-state team

Three members of the Amanda Elzy football team have been selected to the Mississippi High School Football Coaches’ Class 3A All-State team.
The all-state teams are voted on by coaches around the state who are members of the Mississippi Association of Coaches.

Amanda Elzy’s girls and boys basketball teams pulled off a sweep of cross-county rival Leflore County Tuesday night in Itta Bena.
The Lady Panthers (4-4) won a low-scoring affair 28-16 as they led 9-4 after the first frame, 13-6 at the half and 22-7 after the third period.
